Swamp Walk

Thursday June 12th we went on the traditional "Swamp Walk" at Erna and Gary's house. It was pretty hot but well worth the effort. This swamp has a boardwalk that goes for about half a mile through the swamp. We heard owls and all kind of birds. Sometime you see snakes but this time we didn't see any.

One thing we saw a lot of was poison ivy!

It was time to get Caleb away from the video-cyber world and back to nature. Caleb loves to take pictures. Take a look at the butterflies he photographed.

This is possibly a painted lady but I would have to see the underside and the caterpillar to know for sure.

The swamp is full of dragonflies - huge ones. This is a picture Caleb took.

Then we came across this beauty!

We think its a Pipevine Swallowtail

This is what the caterpillar looks like. We didn't find one, I got this off the internet. Someday I plan to attract these beauties to our habitat.

What a beautiful stroll in the woods...

Hmmm, now I know where I get my obsessive compulsive nature from! You are obsessed with caterpillars as much as I am with knitting, hee hee!

Great pictures, and it looks like you had a lovely time!

(P.S. I can try to fix the width of your sidebar, but I'm crazy busy right now for a few days, so it'll be awhile. You might try Josh - he can most likely fix it in five minutes.)
